Friday 13th . . .

OK, so it's Friday 13th - and I've a beachcat race this afternoon. Not a lot of wind, so maybe I'll use the Friday 13th thing as an excuse....

I'm pretty sure that most times I've been out on Friday 13th, bad things have happened. Like the time I put 13 people on the dive boat on Friday 13th and the engines packed in....

Or the time we have a yacht race on Friday 13th, and the winds picked up and ripped the sails on one yacht... another yacht picked up a fishing trap....

So - what should I do?? To sail or not to sail?

In the traditional sailing days a Friday started at Noon on Thursday through to Noon on Friday if I am not mistaken> So, bad luck really started yesterday and you can set sail after Noon on Fridays since its Saturday - nautically speaking.

It is not just on the water..it is definitely Friday the 13th in the OR (20 more minutes and I am outta here ).

The one time I left on a friday to go off shore (that I can think of) is when we had the Psycho crew from hell aboard. the new crewmember went nuts, had a very near collision, hit by a big storm, and struggled with a sinking boat (in that order), but we did make it to port (barely).
Erika

PS
And the Captain was seasick the whole way, she lost 15 lbs by landfall, 14 days later. After that we made it a rule to wait til 1201 saturday.

I'm not superstious but my house burned to the ground on Friday the 13th in the 70's.

I just spent a week treating Havasupai patients in the Grand Canyon. Today is Friday the 13th, and I had to decide whether I wanted to fly out of the Grand Canyon on Friday the 13th in a helicopter. I'm not superstitious, but I admit that I thought about it for a while before I stepped on board the helicopter.

I was a great helicopter ride, and I'm still alive. Friday the 13th did not get me this time.

LOL!! Although none of this is really very funny!!

Well, the race was canceled. Not because our bunch are a superstitious lot, but because they're lazy and there wasn't an awful lot of wind! Managed to get the Optis rigged though and had a go - that was 'fun' in a 'fitting a quart into a pint pot' sort of way.

I just got a text message, the in-laws car just broke down. And I've had their 9 YO twin girls here for the past two weeks and were suppose to pick them up tomorrow.

They're from Canada and the parents took the passports back with them.

One boss would never start a new contract on a friday,
I had a crappy yesterday. I will spend my life trying to figure out why some people always seek out the nice peeps to call on when chips are down but always let them down when tables are turned

As for 13ths, friday or otherwise, can they be bad days?

This morning I was happily reading this exact thread and read the words Friday 13th and looked at the computer clock: 9:36am. !!!!!!!!
Wakeup Nicolle our Guided Walking Tour starts in 24 minutes!!!!
Raced to 'Lil Dink, raced to the dinghy dock, raced to the Tourist Office

"Bonjour, Sorry we are late for the walking tour!!!!!!"
"The walking tour is on Friday!"
"Yes, thats why we are here! Friday 13th!"
"Mais Non. Its is not Friday!"
"Oh! Sorry! We will come back tomorrow!"
"Mais Non-non! Thats Sunday! Today is SATURDAY!"

We lost a whole Friday the 13th!

Also gos to show something about cruisers: We don't know what day it is
