There are several auctions in Japan that purchase these fish, easier said than done as far as doing business there. I am working on contacts there myself, will post here if I can nail anything down concrete. Perhaps you can contact some of the west coast buyers of Albacore, they might have contact information they would share. Borensteins.

If "normal fish" really go for those big bucks.... you can bet there are a lot of commercial fisherman out there with alot of expensive gear going after them....

The Japanese buyers are here stateside,you need a cold freezer and prep know how,not every blue fin is as valuable as someothers...

Actually they are working on cloning the dodo, and a frog that raised it's young in it's stomach.

Yes and the Mammoth, and some European species of bull. I was being facetious. I am not in anyway pro, wipe out the species and then figure out how to get them back camp, I have just seen too many alarmists when it comes to fisheries. Yes the blue fin are in trouble, that doesn't mean that one person with a hand line will eradicate the species, you might want to take a look at some of the countries that are using 20 mile long gill nets in the open oceans that are cleaning out many many different species.

Interestingly though the species they are trying to clone have to be ones we helped along to extinction. So as not alarm the alarmists.

Understood, the real problem is that we have gotten way to efficient at harvesting the seas, the less efficient methods are better for the overall survival rates of the different species, and of course fewer people on the planet would help too. Come on global warming, with the attendant ice age!

last tuna i caught was one-half gone from shark bite after 20 minutes. Something they never show on the TV series "Wicked Tuna" but i am sure it happens there off camera when all you get aboard is the head and a foot or two of meat. fairwinds and good luck fishing.
