Feeling Chuffed!

I got my RYA Day Skipper ticket today so I am feeling very pleased with myself.

Re: Feeling chuffed!

I had to look RYA up before I could offer congrats.

Way to go !

The Essential Navigation & Seamanship course looks appealing to me.

When I saw your title I first thought I was going to get to read about a females displeasure. I could have been correct.

Can't wait to work 'chuffed' into a conversation. I will attempt to get a snap of the weird looks I will get...;>))

Re: Feeling chuffed!

Thanks everyone. I am still smiling.

Andrew - "chuffed" just means feeling very pleased Chuffed | Define Chuffed at Dictionary.com and I cannot wait to see your photos.

The navigation course I did myself using a book that was recommended to me Day Skipper for Sail and Power: Alison Noice: 9780713682724: Amazon.com: Books All the examples are in UK waters but I have never sailed in the areas she used so maybe that is not a problem.

Congrats and every right to be chuffed.
Where did you do the day skippers course?. I'm trying to persuade our Bev to do at least a competent crew course. We live south Manchester with a boat in Liverpool.

Re: Feeling chuffed!

Hi Nigel, you are just around the corner from me in that case because I am near Altrincham. The course was a five day course in Conwy and I will message you the details.

Re: Feeling chuffed!

Well done, chuffed is a smashing word, well known and used by a fellow northerner. yes it does mean well pleased but it can also be used in a less pleasant way by the phrase
"Chuff off'

Re: Feeling Chuffed!

Yeah, chuffed = pleased (with self - but in a nice / modest / well deserved way).

One of those words I have not heard for a while........

That is the bees knees
I bet you lost your plot
To know your onions
Now you need a kip
Bob' your uncle!

Did I say it right? Hmm?
