I enjoyed Visitors, but I would have preferred a more concrete ending.

Come on you can say it, I will, even though there were many parts where you groaned in pain, I watched and liked Wind and Waterworld.

In the one sailing shot category, Thomas Crown Affair, the Formula 40.

If you want documentaries, you have to include Thor Heyerdahl and Kontiki and Ra.

Last season I purchased the entire CD collection and we watch on a small DVD usually in the cockpit after dinner. It was most likely this show that initially got me turned on to sailing. While it is Black and White... it is still great stuff.
May I ask where you purchased these? I loved that show and have found clips on the net, but not full episodes and my local video store is unable to get them.

The DOVE

I believe its an Australian film about the first teenager to C.N solo and the cute kitty sleeping on the boom gets eaten by the man in the grey suit. It'll make you cry!

Think I purchased mine from a company called Mike's Movies but here is a link I think has the same things I have;
Adventures in Paradise DVD Collection, The Classic Theater

Do note that some of the episodes appear to have been pulled from a TV broadcast rather than original film. I've been through Set 1 and 2 so far and only one episode was a problem but viewable. Price here looks a little lower than what I paid a year ago. Good viewing..

Aw come on... Capt Ron is the most realistic of the bunch for us cruisers. Documentary? Shackleton, hands down. The answer to why Master and Commander doesnt work like the Shackleton method...

These are all great so far! This topic came up last night for myself as I was sitting down to watch a movie (or anything interesting) and craving something with sailing, but couldn't think of many sailing themed movies/shows/docs. All kinds of good choices now! Preferably I'd be out actually doing the sailing myself, but... "Water, water everywhere, but not a sailboat to sail with"...haha.

OK here is a list for you Where the water is not central to the story, but the film is sufficiently good, I have included it:

The African Queen
Black Pirate
Black Swan
Captain Blood
Captain Hornblower
Captain Jack
Captains' Courageous (1937 version)
Cutthroat Island
Dead Calm
The Dove
A High Wind in Jamaica
Lifeboat (1944 version)
Lucky Lady
Master and Commander
Moby Dick (1956 version)
The Old Man and The Sea (1958 version)
Pirates of the Caribbean
Riddle of the Sands
The Sea Hawk (1940 version)
Sea Wolf (1993 version)
White Squall

I have highlighted ones that are "Must See" and I put "Riddle of the Sands" at the top of the list
