g'Day All,

I too am an admirer of JS, and have read hs book several times over the years. Good stuff when taken with a grain of salt. For an interesting different view of the old man, I (years ago) read a biograpy of him written by his daughter, Jessie Slocum Joyce. In this, she paints a picture of a dissolusioned fellow who spent many years after his crcumnavigation hauling Spray around to fairs, etc, trying to make a buck from his noterioty. I don't rmember much of the detail, but it seemed like a bad end for a great seaman.
