Great story. However, I find it interesting that the archeologists(?) who found the dragon head were looking for an explanation since this was a common motif on Viking Ships that plied the world for centuries. The Vikings were great carvers and masters of wood. Their ships were a beauty to behold. I also seriously doubt that the construction/shape of the ships were of the "carvel" style used by Columbus(Spain) and the Portuguese. Norse ships were double-enders then and can even be seen today in the small fishing fleets of Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
