Does Furuno Inc. really supports killing of whales

Came across this rather disturbing news flash:
Furuno Inc. Supports the Slaughter of the Whales - Sea Shepherd.
Could it be the truth? It is hard to believe they will not sell their products to the Steve Irwin.

They can use my name to buy what they want, I'm more than happy to forward it to them.

An alternative headline might have read:
"Furuno won't give (or sell) Sea Shepherd a new radar because its government asked it not to."

Or:
"Furuno won't support protesters who ram Japanese ships."

Panbo: The Marine Electronics Weblog: Furuno supports whale slaughter? Or Sea Shepherd BS?

Exactly. If you're going to connect the dots like Sea Shepherd is doing, you could blame anyone for anything.

I once heard a political pundit blame the arrest of a man for necrophilia on the economic policies of the President at the time.

Claiming Furuno supports whaling because of this is no different than that idiocy.

I certainly don't support whaling but Sea Shepherd isn't entirely innocent and Furuno has every right to distance themselves from the group. I imagine Furuno would also refuse to sell to any vessel if they knew it was going to be used for other illegal activity.

I agree Paul Watson is probably breaking some laws; he does get the worlds attention for his cause.

By the way: Furuno is selling its equipment to Japanese whaling vessels killing up to a 1000 whales every year. Some people actually believe this is being done for 'research'. Is killing whales in the name of research legal?

Something else:
Are you aware what's happening to the Bluefin tuna and what is causing that? Didn't know it was that bad; apparently blue fins will be extinct in a couple of years because of the 'need' for sushi. One guess as to where most of the tuna's are being sent to?

Maybe that's the answer Osama will give you when you ask him if it was legal to order the attack against the Twin Towers.

I somehow get the feeling we are comparing apples and oranges here.

This thread is already hurtling itself down a political road. It was started very obliquely on topic, and it isn't staying there.

This one is now closed.
