Re: Do You Pee Standing Up

Warning ! The following may be politically incorrect:

Peeing standing up AND outdoors is one of the few remaining great prerogatives of the male species. Its heavily wooded here in the Hudson Valley with many trails so my dog and I can really bond on this one; between us we have hit most of the trees. Dog doesn't sail so it's up to me to hit the waves. Got a few more to go.

I preferred to use a enclosed bathroom, instead.

Extremely picky about personal hygiene.
You clearly have not traveled much, mate, especially in Oz. Nearly every pub or yacht club urinal is similar to what you found to be unique.

I wonder if the sit to pea crowd are also the same folks that think a composting head is a stellar idea?

Real men piss in a trough, Fenway Park has it right.

Thought Europe was "unique" in the fact that they charged folks to use the restroom ,had a small section of paper at a certian price and then no paper and another price for peeing ,went to Mexico crossed at New Larado and damned if they werent charging also ..

Re: Do You Pee Standing Up

Ladies and gentlemen I give you the solution. An oval water jug.

Stand, kneel, sit whatever takes your fancy.

It can be tipped overboard from the cockpit while you are still tethered on.

I believe the bucket club does not discriminate based on size, colour or shape, so subject to DOJ approval you may even qualify you for this venerable CF institution.

I think there's a difference between dangerous and increased risk. Gybing is not "dangerous" although it exposes the boat and crew to increased risk. If you're smart and manage the risk I don't see the problem.

Feel free to quote this thread if I end up missing at sea, found with my fly down.

I drink a lot (water, coffee, tea, whatever) underway. It's usually either hot or cold so I'm drinking the inverse beverage to keep hydrated and pass the time.

If it's hot, I'm usually just wearing shorts and the weather is benign, so I'm not getting thrown around in the cabin or on deck.

If it's cold, I'm usually in foulie pants and it's just way faster to whip... the thing out... than it is to take off my jacket, take off my fleece, take off my suspenders, take off my underwear, and then sit down, then undo the whole thing all over again.

Maybe my aim is just substantially better than the average male. I've been cleaning heads on ships since 1996.

My three year old two weeks ago decided she wanted to pee like daddy. She decided this while we had some friends over for dinner.

She goes in the bathroom, stands on her stool and screams at the top of her lungs "look daddy i can pee like you do even tho i have a ba'gina (how she says it)"

So you can imagine that as i ran to the bathroom the whole dinner table followed.

And yea she can do it.

Aim is a problem though.

Wish i had a camera.

Re: Do You Pee Standing Up

I wonder if there is a relationship to peeing and guns on a boat?

My buddy runs fishing charters (no head) and we all use the gallon jug. Pour overboard, rinse, and stow. Pretty simple and safe. Don't disagree about standing, just where you're standing.

As for cleaning the head, am I the only person with a shower hose and head the size of a small phone booth?

Big enough that I don't need to hold it once I get it out....I can hold onto the standing rigging with both hands...unless the water is cold....
