'Dead Calm' - The Movie

Flipping channels on the TV and come across Dead Calm. Good sailing training movie and on why you shouldn't pick-up people from some boat out on the open water.

Specially if you have Niocle Kidman sailing with you!

Re: Dead Calm - the movie

My favorite part of the entire movie is the first 2 minutes of this clip:

She gets the boat sailing by herself. Then she's on the sprit in bashing waves and spray while Otto does the driving. Then - poof - she's on the...FREAKIN' SPREADERS???? WTH?

Heh-heh. Classic.

Yeah, almost as good as George Clooney climbing the mast with a blowtorch in a hurricane in the movie, Perfect Storm :-)

Ugh.

My eyes got tired from the constant rolling.

I kept saying, "Just shoot the bastard !"

Nice boat though.

Did you see the seen where the boat is suspose to be sinking and water is pooring out the sides above the water line HAHA it must have been setting on a sand bar and the tide went out. We have the movie aboard our boat.

It's a great movie. If I'm not mistaken the boat used is the beautiful Stormvogel (won Sydney to Hobart once).

maybe a flare gun wouldn't be very effective as a weapon:

You just have to be like the guy in the movie and shoot them right in their open mouth with the flare. Then it work's fine...
