Cruiser Midnight

Midsummer in SE Alaska, it is still pretty light after 11PM, and again by 3AM. Still usually hit the rack not much after 9 - I really love the mornings!
Quiet, more critters to watch, fine fishing, smooth cruising, just gorgeous.

We go to bed about 03:00 when not sailing. When sailing, we change between 01:00 and 02:00. So our midnight is about 02:00.

I never heard about that 21:00 thing before. Must be some urban legend.

Surprised no one is admitting they go to bed at 9pm because of too much rum (or other). That seems a lot of denial, which is going to get in the way of recovery efforts.

I'm no cruiser yet, but we go to bed at 8 or 8:30, we don't go to sleep for a while though, but we go so early as we get up at 05:30 to go to work.
I expect when we start cruising, we will go back to the way we used to sleep many years ago, stay up pretty late, sleep until late morning and maybe an afternoon nap if there is nothing going on.

Look up segmented sleep, and sleep patterns of history, the way we sleep now and they way we slept long ago is significantly different. Most people apparently went to bed early, but got up in the middle of the night for a few hours and then went back to sleep for the rest of the night.

What your describing of course is an Alcoholic, do you think there are that many out there?
I wouldn't think an Alcoholic would be capable of actual cruising, making passages etc.

When I lived in Hailer Germany, the street lights actually went out every night at 9 I think.
You know the towns closed when they turn the street lights off.

Mate.. we eat around 9pm.. then freshen up and head out for the evening.. Spain will do your head in.. the whole family takes a passeola around 11pm.. including toddlers..

too hot in sun here to do mid day stuff. that time is reserved for siesta. early and later in evening are times here for folks . i go early am to whenever i fall asleep in a book

In Mallorca, my restaurant doesnt even begin to serve cooked food till 8:30pm, and goes through till 1am.

I think we have a long tradition of circumnavigators from Britain who would deny that.
