This old chestnut always crops up , the reasons why the English would never have learnt German are:

1) They are really really rubbish at Languages . (over here they did try and teach the kids German for 5 years, no great success ).

2) A deal would have been done with that nice Mr Hitler that would very likely have involved a march on Moscow and the Empire being retained (that latter one as much to do with why the US entered the war as anything else - to defeat the British Empire..........and they did).

If it hadn't been for that war monger Churchill (whose only goal in life was the greater glory of Churchill) then the deal would have been done anyway, and IMO should have been. The English have dealt with worse devils than Hitler......but of course they weren't led by a US Quisling like Churchill whose legacy was to turn the UK into a US Vassel State. Airstrip one ........and BTW am not English, so fundamentally don't care .

Of course nowadays that nice Mr Hitler would be considered somewhat of a liberal in the US tea based political circles.........even if still slightly saner than those with magic underpants from the Planet Kolob .

I would also love to know experience,equipment levels. Just glad everyone is ok. Losing your kids is hard enough, losing them to your stupidity is a whole new discussion.

Technically, they are called "garments", not underpants. Presumably one knows if they are consecrated garments if the factory seal is unbroken.

And the REAL reason why they aren't speaking German-the Soviets! Their 25 million war dead make the rest look pretty tame in comparison. D-Day 27 German division on the Western Front, 118 on the Eastern Front.
