I'm used to the insults and hostility to religion by now as if all Christians are wild-eyed idiots, it's a national sport in the U.S. especially lately, but oh well, what else is new - but all these scornful comments about taxpayer funded rescues - oh that's rich, when nearly every member on this forum, no matter how cautious and well prepared, is engaged in an activity that is ultimately elective and recreational.
As an Atheist I love them - the Storm Troopers of Atheism , the more vocal they are and publicity they get the better ....God bless the Internet and multi-channel media .

But a bit rich of Christians to play the victim card .

Also, per my understanding, you cannot normally fly abroad without a passport and a visa. The airline wont let you board the aircraft, because they are liable for the cost of your repatriation.

Correct - you can't fly without a passport and a visa to your final destination. However if you have to connect the international terminal has a transit area - you don't have to have a visa for the country you're connecting through.

Yeah.......but it ain't illegal to leave most countries without a passport, just without one won't be able to get into most when you arrive.....and nowadays the airlines get hit with the cost to fly yer back, hence them not letting you board without the right documents - but it's not illegal to turn up at a border (or even an airport) with no documents.....just unlikely to get in ........it seems that ignorance of that sort of basic knowledge at the State Dept let someone escape from HK.

For the transit visa thing - that 24 hour rule is just a universally accepted rule, each country can do own thing (including arresting or sending folks back upon arrival - it's not diplomatic territory or sanctuary!). TBH it is a bit rich that the US is complaining about other countries making up own rules when expedient to do so .

Oddly enough, I've seen more Christians helping other people than atheists.

So, there's that.

I have seen the cultural wreckage in the Pacific - islanders praying to Jesus and talking about 3 men in a desert land far far away. Guilted and brainwashed into turning their backs on their own culture.

It boggles my mind, but then maybe it is easily boggled...

I'd guess that is about where you are and who you mix with. Not everyone needs to be organised, or to carry a banner to let everyone how great your sect are (especially if you don't need to be part of a sect to validate own existence)......nor need to prey on the vulnerable to get a message sold - when there is no message, no need to sell . Seemples .

I dont know if this is correct ,if we think back to the cold war days the the communist(atheist) did a lot of good things for the world, for instance they aaa, well they did do aaa, and then there is all those people that they helped out in aaa..I am sure I left something out as they have done so much good for the world it would be niegh near impossiable to list all the great things athesist have done,oh yea they have never started a war in the name of god!

For a start they defeated that nice Mr Hitler, although to be fair half way through WW2 Stalin did roll back on his zapping the Church - he was also a pragmatist .

But for the USA (and Western Europe) they also provided a bogeyman - which meant that our lords & master were scared of...........us......have you noticed that since the end of the Soviet Era that they are no longer scared? and therefore don't need to throw so many crumbs off the table anymore..........

.....possibly not .

You could also claim large chunks of scientific progress, if only because even the god botherers had enough Atheism in them! to no longer be scared of either God(s) or their representatives on earth to enquire beyond the contents of whichever book of babble their society had.

Yeah, I have invented Atheist Christians (if the Mormon Christians can claim Anne Frank, several times , as one of their own - then I think fair enuf ).

I would leave the 'world' aside and simply state that them 'communist' (read on) government did many things right. At least when you look from a working class person perspective.

But it is a huge mistake to equal communist with atheist as so many communist ruled nations were actually deeply religious (mostly Catholic) undercover.

Also, it is worth noting that in many satellite states, the govt was far more socialist than communist.

Sort of like a mixture of many good and fewer very bad things.

One of the bad (?) things was that they had very limited rights of sailing their boats outside of their countries. Also, their sailors were not welcomed, if they happened to sail into any Western (US satellite) state.

How did this thread go from bashing morons to religion? Lets just stick to the ridicule.

I think you guys who think communism was so peachy keen, need to meet some more people who had to live under it. Any places that people will risk getting shot or drowned to get out of, usually aren't that great.

Wow, I have not ever seen such ignorance contained in one place whether on an internet forum or in real life. You people are so disconnected from reality. Group9 speaks truth.

It is so easy to bash Christianity. Irony of all irony is you seem to not recognize you do so under what has been given to you through a Christian heritage. "cultural wreckage"? Sure, that is your personal opinion but is that also your personal guilt?

Wow, just wow.
