challenge: adrift, no anchor, no power, flat calm water

last time this happened to me in the english channel!

fuel tanks irrecoverably blocked,compressed air start,drifting into shipping lanes!

Swim to the breakwater with a poly rope (or use the dinghy if one exists) and then pull the boat in.

while im making myself a relaxing gin and tonic ive sent the girl aft to hop in the 15ft 60 hp rib and hitch the painter to the foredeck cleat, tow us in to the dock and dont bother me til we're tied up and i csn potter up to the club for a spot of afternoon tea...

Pass the (extra long and strong) boat hook though a hole in the swimstep. When shallow enough, stab further into seabed. Pivot on new pole mooring.

I would just flip the switch of my fuel boost pump and start the engine again. If I would be bothered enough, I would turn the valve to use a clean 2nd filter like shown above in the thread.

It is only when in trouble that most start realizing that some support and backup systems make sense; before that, they only cost money.

Put a couple of holes in the bottom, stick your feet through, and Fred Flintstone your way onto harbor...

What would I do? Probably run aground.. I would try to make an anchor and rode (stock pot, dock line, etc), but sounds like a call for a tow and then an insurance claim

sounds like you are thinking about what just happened to a flying dragon we all know and love.....i think the owner did just what he had to in his situation--even being newer than new lawngrass, he didnt kill boat--just went aground....as anyone would have.
in that situation, there really isnt anything to do except make sure when ye leave one area to have dinghy ready to use as a tow vessel.....at all times. even calling that marina for assistance would have helped him save his pride from major embarrassment.

oops power boat--still have a dinghy ready fro use as a towboat or your seatoad ins up to date and card inhand--if in a different country, keep your dink deployed and at the ready.
