censorship and forums

i just had a friend introduce me to a new forum that is dedicated to catamarans the multihull.com , and as you do because i am building one of these i introduced myself and posted a photo, lo and behold the next day it was deleted and i recieved a rather nasty email informing me that posting anything other than words was against the rules of the forum i could submit a reuest to the admin to post said photo or a link and they would consider p[osting it elsewhere, half the enjoyment of a forum is looking at photos and links that other people post. to me this is extremely draconian and i have voted with my feet so to speak

To be clear - you are NOT (obviously) talking about this forum. Sorry that the other forum was so overly constrained. We do, as I believe you are familiar with, have a pretty large contingent of multi-hull owners here on this forum.

We do have our rules, but I believe they are reasonable and sane, and do not limit speaking one's mind.

Lori? I think that you need to take things in hand before you head off ... Give him about a weeks worth?

I have also explored that other forum, but was very unimpressed. I guess they don't find the humor in my sarcasm like you guys do. Of course, it may be necessary on that forum to censor everything. All the good members are here

Good luck. I got ignored. I posted 3 or 4 times, and no one really responded. It was clear the newbies are not made to feel like part of the group. Or at least, that is how I felt. Now here, we dole out the abuse equally regardless if you are a newbie or an old salt

Uh, just how 'strongly' did you inform them of the fact that you are sailing a 28 ft. wooden monohull?

FWIW, during the 2 years (1999 to 2001) I was searching for the right catamaran, I was on the multihull forum often. I found it useful. Not as diverse and fun as this forum, but useful.

havent checked out multihull forum, I do watch the Gemini forums. Was briefly in the Sail.net forum but frankly I perceived a lot of West Coast Monohull mindset for lack of a better phrase, and this forum seems a bit, I dont know, more well rounded and broad minded...(again,for lack of a better phrase..)
