We came very close to purchasing a C&C in Ft. Lauderdale named "Penguin Lust." Beautiful boat but I don't think I could have made radio calls using that name without laughing!

If I win the lottery and buy a 100+ foot boat (not interested) I'd name her: Itsea Bitsea
My wife and I are accident prone and almost named our boat: Clutsea
Instead, we named our 26 knot fisher/cruiser: Joule

When I bought the first boat the Wife said she I could have a mistress, as long as she didn't see it. So the boat is in Newfoundland; and I'm in Philadelphia. Now we just bought HER boat, so we could have a "MENAGE A TROIS" But I can't get past the Mayday call - no one would come.

So we are buying another steel boat, she a psychoanalyst. And its her boat so maybe:

STEEL PSYCHO” And the dingy? “A LITTLE”

I'm an Engineer, if she dumps me she could rename it "ENGINE LASS."

A couple of weeks ago we saw a Canadian yacht in Indiantown, Florida named “Carpe Diem eh!
We thought that was good.

The current name of our soon to be new to us boat is Safara which means something like “spiritual journey.” OK, but kinda bland.

But I'm not much on names. Perhaps it is a family trait. My Father was born in Hope, and was always feared he would find a town named Despair.

Pet names have always been difficult for me.

I once had a beagle back in the '60's when I was a long haired hippie type. Not thinking clearly or long term I named it “Bunny.” Later when I went rabbit hunting I got some mighty strange looks from other hunters, especially since we were usually pretty successful.

In order to not repeat such embarrassments I named our red eared slider turtle BAT (Big Ass Turtle)

And we have a very curious and uninhibited cat that is called (what else) CAT! Correct pronunciation requires the word to be said “fortissimo” followed by the sound of the exclamation sign (!) which is the sound of a shoe throw with great force that hits something unintended.

Saying often heard in Australia is "good on ya", so whenever Simon or I hear someone say this, we reply " Nice name for a boat!"

Lorena Bobbitt's lawyer has his boat at our marina occasionally-- named "Hung Jury".

True story. I've helped tow him in when he had engine trouble.

One of the boats I looked at buying was filled with Elvis memorabilia - the owner wasn't dressed like Elvis when I met him but I bet he did in the weekends...

Anyway the boat was called "Love Me". I didn't think anything of it until we were motoring away and I saw the name of his dinghy...

<groan>

On the Elvis theme-- saw a "go-fast" boat, all done up in yellow and purple (with the loudest, roughest "bla-bla-blub-bla..." at idle I'd ever heard) named "All Shook Up".

Another Blowjob

Years ago I remember seeing another boat at Cat Harbor that was named "Blowjob". The skipper had a hard dinghy on deck. The name painted on the Dinghy was "Handjob".
