Bumfuzzles Are On The Move and Sailing

If you have not been following their blog at all, they are now up and have left San Fransisco heading south.

This is the couple who did a RTW without any prior experience; bought a cat, started sailing.

Now, older, they are in a mono. Interesting first real impressions of the difference.

BTW, last time they were just a couple. Now they have a one year old baby, and wifey is 7 months pregnant.

But they didn't move port for about 10 years between their rtw, did they?

They started RTW in Oct/Nov 2003 and finished up the sea leg in April 2007.

Re: Bumfuzzles are on the move and sailing

There's no harm in another Bumfuzzle discusson as long as it doesn't include:

- Delamination
- Lack of experience
- Criticism of youth

There are many readers on here that have never heard of Bumfuzzle before and I recommend they read their story at bumfuzzle.com The photos, information, sights, sounds and destinations are all worth reading about.

Thanks for that.

Its funny that some folks court controversy and some just slide on through.

No one advertises my website for me. Maybe the 57 NUDE photos of HOT Cruisin' chicks isn't enough?

Re: Bumfuzzles are on the move and sailing

The Bimfuzzles probably have more miles under their keel than many of their critics.

Icould never figure out what great sin they committed, except they did it.

Re: Bumfuzzles are on the move and sailing

First impressions, after reading all the current blog entires:

He's a better writer now (it takes time). There's a more relaxed feel to his conversation, and an experiential base from which to build his narrative. He's in an element he knows something about now, and so feels less strained to understand and make sense of things

So far, that insufferably smug in Gen X "Why can't there be a Mc Donald's on every corner?" and the confusion and shock of "Why are things going wrong?" attitude is missing, and gratefully so. Age, experience from the first boat, and fatherhood may share some responsibility for that. It'll be interesting to see how he responds to obstacles, setbacks, and frustrations this time.

Still doesn't care to learn basic nautical terms. Not that important in the big picture, but it shows a certain respect to the sailing community to quit saying "kitchen" and "bathroom." I'll try not to be as miffed as I want to be, lest it reveal my priggishness. I'm sure he's checked to see which of his winches are two-speed and which are not (sorry, I just can't let that one go).

I think he's ready for the slower monohull and a goal that is less ambitious than "Around the world!" Pat may have grown up. I wish them luck, and will be checking in occasionally to see how they're doing.

Re: Bumfuzzles are on the move and sailing

Technically, the head is what you sit on not the room, and as mine is in the aft part of the boat, it can't be the head.
JUST HAVING FUN..
