Somebody must have skipped school the day they covered Rule 13.

Perhaps both Captains missed the whole course...

Re: Bulk Carrier runs over cargo ship

I enjoyed the running commentary in Spanish. Mostly not repeatable in English on the forum but I loved "Oh su madre" (Oh your mama).

MIND BOGGLING ... how the heck that was allowed to happen?
As with most tragic/serious accidents ... multiple mistakes over time compounded.

Wow.

Do the captains get together afterwards and exchange insurance numbers?

My co-worker (who's Mexican) says the commentators are Mexican, because of some idioms they employed.

Re: Bulk Carrier runs over cargo ship

assume the ship being overtaken was signalling with it's horn incessantly near the end. Could see no apparent effort by the overtaking ship to avoid the collision. There was crossing traffic ahead that the lead ship might have had to avoid. Couldn't turn to stbd without swinging its stern into the overtaking ship or to port because they would have been (were) run down. Think the over taking ship's captain might have some 'splainin' to do.

LMAO.... you should hear some of the conversations between ships in the English Channel or the approaches to Gib Straits...
More like assholes on the highway giving each other the finger than responsible captains..

Yes certainly Mexican Spanish based on the "idioms".

Idioms. What a polite way to describe it. I wouldn't want my mama to hear me talk that way.

Five blasts of the whistle= "you are standing into danger" eight or more "prepare to be rammed"?
This appears to be a clear case of enforcement of the tonnage rule or fairway rage.

It looks like a case of road rage. Don't piss off ships that are bigger than you.
