Boatus Insurance

Just renewed my tow insurance and found out I got a discount for buying on-line ($36.00) for unlimited towing. $102.00 for the year isn't too bad. FYI

Something odd when buying boat insurance on a trailered boat happened to me.
I had AAA insurance on my car, boat and home... the boat insurance at the time was very little.
Well I stopped in to get a coppy for a regatta I was doing and found out that I was not covered while racing the boat.. when I started asking questions about the policy, I found that my home-owners covered it while in the driveway, and my auto insurance covered it while being towed BUT they wouldnt covered it while in the water becaused I raced it.. I asked them why I had boat insurance if it was covered under other parts of my policy and they said because I requested it...
Dumb me, Hey.......so i canceled the boat insurance and got a rebate back and its was still insured.........

Boat US towing insurance has funny billing practices. When I get my renewal in the mail it's always about $140. One phone call and it comes down to about $100.

I would REALLY like to know more about the reduction Rick - I have the same insurance, and if I can pay $40 less, then I need to know more! SHARE!

Randy, that's not surprising at all. Normal "motor vehicle" insurance expressly bans coverage during "racing and competition" type use. Of course, your policy usually has been typeset in a way that intntionally makes it difficult to read through and find out about those exclusions. Ask any typesetter and they'll tell you that kind of printing is no accident.

Call them next time you get your renewal, mention that it's a lot of money, they will start asking you whether you belong to this or that organization, if you answer yes you'll get a discounted group or special rate. Please send me $20 for this advice. (half your savings).
