Boater's World going out of business ...

no huge surprise here, but a sign of the times, no doubt:

Parent company (Ritz Camera) went into Chapter 11 and decided to shed the marine retail.

currently BW is having a 10-30% off clearance sale, but my observation is that they've re-upped the prices and then are taking the discount on that. So, may want to wait a few weeks ...

Bankruptcy discount sales tend to work that way The creditors are not going out of business and don't give to give away the stock so they can be repaid less. Circuit City did the same thing. The things really on sale are few.

A friend of mine went down to our local boaters world this weekend and he told me that he felt that they have increased the starting price on some items and then took a discount on that higher listed price. He was looking for a fishfinder and didn't see anything that came close to a reasonable cost savings.

I was just at the store in Solomons, MD hoping to find a couple of deals. I walked out empty handed and actually pickup the materials i needed at WM down the street for less that the going out of business price.

Likewise - at the Naples FL store yesterday only some items were at a price I would consider to be a discount. They have marked things up prior to advertising the discount. Caveat emptor....
