In that case, let me introduce you to my land yacht.

Note the "green propulsion system" and the fuel tank on the bow.

Given I am a stinkpotter and therefore have absolutely no sailing biases ...may I be the judge?

Two categories....high tech and classic.

And the winner is....

Na... I don't know....

Looks kind of like a Boat Bum's boat... ha ha ha

Seriously, these are beautiful boats too. I like this Privateer/Vagabond style, asthetically. The lines are really cool and I sure love the teak decks and ample wood everywhere. Very nice to look at.

She's a Ted Brewer designed long-keeled masthead sloop. 32' LOA and about 27' on the waterline. She carries eight, but you can sail her hard with three, and she's as at home in 25 knots as in ten. Everything I ever wanted in a boat! I love her

I think that if there is a beauty contest thread then there should be an ugly thread and I nominate this one from the twin roller headsail thread. Man is this thing bloody ugly, FUGLY in fact

SV Softair picture

I almost bought a nice Beneteau 34 but after meeting Captain Alan Stowell from AYS I realized I was not getting the right boat for what I want to do (extensive blue water cruising plans) I searched and searched on the Internet and I felt in love with the Cheoy Lee 41 offshore Richards, Captain Stowell helped me looking for this boat, we went Panama...not what we expected, then Fort Lauderdale...nice one there but not the mast configuration I need until finally we landed in Tortola, BVI where we found an incredible well maintained Cheoy Lee 41 Richards. Captain Stowell worked for Cheoy Lee back in the 60´s and he has owned 3 of these boats (I did not know any of this when I made my boat decision) and he did an impecable job evaluating my boat there, I got a good deal and now she is mine and in the process of being renamed to SV SOFTAIR as well as registered and documented in the BVI, I will take her to San Juan for electronics and then to Cartagena (where I am from) to go thru an extensive aesthetics job that should leave her as beatiful as the pictures posted by INVITATION on this thread.

I totally agree with this statement I read on this threa:

Besides their beauty, that's why a lot of these classic designs are still
sought after. If history is any example, in 15 years today's "modern"
designs will be on the scrap heap, while these "true blues" will still be
sought after. Even so, there are at least plenty of examples of beautiful
monohulls out there.

I am in my early 30s, retired Airline Transport Pilot and fully ready keep navigating for good at sea.

This is my first boat and if you are looking for an impecabble boat I will be happy to give you references and contact info for Captain Alan Stowell, he has been a sailor for over 60 years and still going honest and strong. Pictures are recent but still with her former name and flag.

I am sure inspiring myself with Invitation´s pictures, my CL 41 will surely look as beautiful as his

Those are lovely craft. I just wish they didn't have the horse-shoe saloon. Doesn't look comfy to lie out on. Does yours have wood decks?

Here's a classic 12 metre yacht, recently built on St. Kitts, by the name of "Kate". “Kate” was designed by Alfred Mylne in 1908 and built by Philip Walwyn and his small team of woodworkers in St. Kitts. Launch date was December 2006. I can see her sailing off Nevis from time to time. A beautiful lady!

Thanks for your reply, the only teak I will keep will be in the Cockpit and the teack decks will be removed and then I will have the deck repainted and protected.

I will add an additional head instead of the two single beds in the forward cabin and the horse-shoe saloon could be modified if one wanted to according to the big yard in Cartagena that had modified the same kind of boats before.

Best
