The Previous and only owner of my Ericson added absolutely nothing to the boats electrical system......the wiring, when compared to the electrical blueprint of the vessel was unchanged.

Boy did it make upgrading easier...no crap to pull out or identify and label.

The PO of my boat built but never finished a davit/solar panel mount. He built it with a certain panel in mind. I bought the panel and it fit perfect. The davit needed all the hardware which I rigged and it carries the dinghy securely. He did a lot of other work, like changing the alchohol stove to LPG, rearranged some storage just to name a few.

Then I bought it, when I become the PO I hope the next guy appreciates all the work I'm doing.

How are things in CO? Got back down here to the boat in Hope Town on Wed and it is cool for down here. Our previous owner was an anal retentive lawyer (I hope he's not on this site) who had back ups for his back ups and kept every bit of correspondence and receipts about the boat in 5 big alphabetized files. It has been a wonderful resource.

A few previous owners ago, my boat was setup as a racing boat.

All the winches, jam cleats and clutches are in about the perfect position for a fair lead and ease of access.

I'm glad you liked the blog. We have been back aboard for 4 whole days and this afternoon we limped into the Hope Town Marina for some shore power. The batteries are crap, looks like the alternator is likewise, the varnish looks like crap and the people in the slip next to us are busy trying to arrange a slip change before we bring down their property value. Eye witness reports state that our wind generator blades parted ways with the housing and landed in the cockpit the morning of the afternoon we arrived. But hey, we feel lucky, we're wearing shorts, at least the blades didn't end up in the drink and it's just more fodder for the blog.

Got a devorce from his wife who got the boat that he had spent countless hours and money on. She sold it at a very reasonable price. LOL

Previous owner also built very heavy duty davits with solar and wind gen mounts along with many other works of art. One of my favourites is the fresh water distribution system. He had two manifolds made of s/s (one hot, one cold), each water outlet has a dedicated labelled valve on the manifold making servicing and repairs a very simple task. He also labelled every electrical wire with small tags at their origon and in places like junction boxes and other access points which has been nothing short of a godsend.

Previous Owners are on this site frequently. Other than that damn big generator, everything they did was 'mo better'! Of course, it helps when the PO really knew what he was doing.

PO really neglected the boat. In talking to some of the people at the yard they spent a couple of weeks just cleaning the boat. Scum so thick that they scraped it off with a putty knife. Best thing the previous owner did to the boat was to send it back to the factory for a refit. Good for me but bad for the yard. After doing $120k worth of work on the boat the PO only had $60k to pay them back. Yard decided to swallow the loss and sell it for less than they were owed. I'm still finding problems though.
