How about Guy Clark... not specific to sailing but a very fine song.

This one by a Dutch artist, Piet Veerman - "Sailin' Home".
Video quality is not good, most of the tugs featured were in the Smit Tak and Smit Lloyd fleet.

We don't have a sound system on our boat, but now and then we do like to belt out a song or two. This one is great for singing . . . though this recording is a bit slower and gentler than I like to perform it.

When we're ripping along on a good broad reach, the lyrics always leap to mind: "Speed bonnie boat, like a bird on the wing. . . ."

Skye Boat Song

Speed, bonnie boat, like a bird on the wing,
Onward! the sailors cry;
Carry the lad that's born to be King
Over the sea to Skye.
Loud the winds howl, loud the waves roar,
Thunderclaps rend the air;
Baffled, our foes stand by the shore,
Follow they will not dare.
chorus
Though the waves leap, soft shall ye sleep,
Ocean's a royal bed.
Rocked in the deep, Flora will keep
Watch by your weary head.
chorus
Many's the lad fought on that day,
Well the Claymore could wield,
When the night came, silently lay
Dead in Culloden's field.
chorus
Burned are their homes, exile and death
Scatter the loyal men;
Yet ere the sword cool in the sheath
Charlie will come again.

Here's to the Halcyon by the Old 97's

crappy cell phone video of a live version, great lyrics...

skip 28 seconds in to miss all the guitar tuning.

This is amazing. Do you actually remember this from when it was trendy?
