Just got back from a 3 week break in
Malaysia doing a bit of recon as to whether or not we'd like to base ourselves loosely around the Langkawi/Penang area.
We got back in late last night, and my distast for the Australian Custom's department was re-enforced yet again, but hey,..........
Malaysia was fantastic.
Penang and Langkawi were great, and Caro has given us the green light to base ourselves up that neck of the wood's with the
boat.
Penang was wonderful , the people friendly and everything was so
cheap.
Langkawi was quiet, beautiful and even cheaper.
KL was busy, a madhouse and the touter's annoyed the hell out of us.
Found it hard to believe that we could rent a near new car for $15/dayAUD with no extra charges, buy
fuel for .65c/l AUD, drink cold Tiger
beer for .59c AUD a can and eat a 2 course meal for as little as .68c AUD at the markets and some restaurant's/cafe's we went to at Langkawi.
Caro got 2 new set's of glasses and new lenses in her old frames for $109 AUD total including the test and much better
service and result than she got with her $300 set in Oz. She was getting massages for $8 Aud for 30 min's. We were being driven in leather upolstery and timber trim Limo's in Penang for $11 AUD per hour.
And the best bit for us are all these near empty marina's and bugger all boat's on the
water, so we nearly get the place to ourselves.
It was Glassy calm the whole time we were there, so perfect for the powercat.
Yippee
Can't wait to get there for real,
Dave
