Re: Australia approves dumping in Great Barrier reef

Thread drift, our government in Aus is now attacking Aunty. Oh no, they used the "unpatriotic" word.
For those not from Aus, Aunty is our beloved government funded public broadcaster. You know, the kind of broadcaster that is not constrained by commercialism and is not frightened, until now!!. The end is nie.

A thread drift that has nothing at all to do with boats or cruising.

Fundamentally correct in effect (Even conscripts had to volunteer for Vietnam), but it is no where in the constitution.

Not if you live on a yacht and register as being of "no fixed abode." :-)

All Australian is all about boats!
You need one to get there. At least if You do not want to be in this terrible piece of pipe with jet engines attached!

Cheers

Re: Australia approves dumping in Great Barrier reef

Boatman - I recall seeing a documentary once about African lions. If a lion see a human coming in its direction, it gets up and moves off. Over the millennia, lions that failed to do this wound up being dinner in the local village. The only lions left were those that feared humans.

What a pity the sharks are not as smart as lions....

Tell the parents of the 12 year old killed by a croc on the weekend. Or tell all those surfers killed in WA in the last few years.

We have allowed the man eater size crocs and white pointers for too long and need to go back to management.

Territorial pressure on crocs because of over population means they are in many areas not seen before.

Re: Australia approves dumping in Great Barrier reef

There was a report here recently, and I cannot find it now, that said that more people are killed by vending machines than sharks.

And in Africa, more tourists are killed by hippos than crocodiles. After all a hippo is just a big sort of cow isn't it? How could it be dangerous?

Records I have just read show that since 2002, six people have been killed by sharks in WA.
