Anti-Whaling Activists Cool Boat Sinking

Just heard on BBC that the black power tri used by the anti whaling activist has been struck by another boat and is sinking.

If you remember this is that really cool looking power tri.

Seems there was no lose of life, thank goodness, but the loss of a very unique and interesting boat.

I found this link with more details.
Boat sinking after whaling clash in Antarctica | Top AP Stories | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle

I don’t want to start a political or moral discussion about whaling….I just want to take a minute to morn the loss of the boat.

RIP Batboat. I saw it when they were here on the Gold Coast, before it was painted black. It's uh... "unique" (ugly).

If I were to ever donate money to a charity, it would be Sea Shepherd. An organisation that actually takes action for what they believe in, and provides entertainment! Pretty rare these days.

Rules of the road: who rammed who?

Ady Gil

If you watch the video that was shot by the Sea Shepards, you can see that the Ady Gil was not making any way, and was basically dead in the water, you can also see the Japanese ship change course towards the Ady Gil, then tried to change course again to avoid the stationary Ady Gil.

The Japanese skipper was probably trying to scare them, when you gamble with peoples lives and ships at sea you must be prepared to pay the consequences.

Undoubtedly the Japanese will not do anything about it, and the Australian government has had numerous chances to prevent the confilicts in the first place.

No RAM it was the Japanese boat that did it while spraying the crew with HP hoses making it difficult for them to helm. So much for Somali pirates then!

It looks like the video was removed "due to terms of use violations" Since I never got a chance to see it, does anyone have any idea what these violations were? Did I miss out on nudity or what?

Doesn't it seem like the tri has forward motion? I think I saw a distinct wake from her all the way to the point of collision in the Japanese video (?)

She looks like she belongs in a Batman movie Pretty cool looking but doesn't look like a boat to me

Hate to see people getting hurt in avoidable situations...

Looks like the ante just got upped. Wonder what the next move will be. The good guys, (not the Japanese) will be answering I suspect. This is enough to inflame the well heeled anti whaling forces. Military vessels were designed for ramming and I bet there are a lot of decomissioned ones out there on the market.
