Re: "Aging hippies music thread"

Did this one start it all?

John Philips wrote it, the instigator of The mamas and papas.

Follow the lyrics, if you know who they are talking about, even with the bad spelling, then you are an aging hippy.

Not only know what they were talking about but know it was Cass's acid that got them there from the mayo jar she smuggled into the Caribbean, and John's American Express card from his former group that financed the adventure.

That brings back some memories, sort of, i was actually at the Isle of Wight gig, Great time, some bad vibes, but that's expected. Coming to the end of the "festival" era.

I lived in California during that time and my gf invited me to join her for the cross country drive to NY for Woodstock. She was a year ahead of me, and her dad allowed her to take their nearly new 1968 V8 stick shift Camaro for the trip. Me, at 17 and in high school was told by my parents "no way". She went, I didn't, and later when the three album set came out, she bought it for me.

Re: "Aging hippies music thread"

i was in lake george, ny as one of the 300 yr round residents, so i felt if i didnt go i would deeply regret that-- so i took my 1960 vw van there filled with 5 boys and me. they wanted to "borrow" it for concert--i had to go .. we left late and got to park just behind the white chevy nova behind which the movie cut the scene-- my car never made it to the movie...was the next in line...
