A "THUD" in the night, what would you do?

Okay, I won't tell you what it was (found out after the sun came up), but let me give you the situation:

- Glass calm night. Cold, dew, no wind.
- 2:45am.
- You're in the marina. No boats next to you; protected on all sides by concrete.
- You inspected the mooring lines that day.

Then all of a sudden, a THUD shakes the entire boat. Like someone struck the top of the deck with a sledge hammer. So the first thing I did was:

- throw the bilge pump into manual on, get the emergency bilge pump handle in my hand, grab the flashlight, and check the bilge.

What would you do, and what would think it was?

Yah, I'm thinking either a croc or perhaps even a log or something floating around under you with the currents. Perhaps even a turtle.. They seem to be pretty slow and dodgy. Let us know what it was.. I'm really curios now!!

Let's see, Reb, you said the thump was on "the top of the deck". Maybe you should have suspected intruders and whipped out your "defensive weapon" of choice! Or maybe that's what the manual bilge pump handle was for.
