And if you still want to sail once there, build one of these with bigger sails.

In a way, the one way trip to Mars is no different than an exploration of American Wild West starting in 17th century, or the discovery of the Americas before that.

Considering the advancements in knowledge and technology, it was even more "unknown" then ... they had no idea what's out there, and no means of getting back either if thing did not work out.

I think, 6B. is quite unimpressive, esp. for that of Governments!

"If,

This was to take root, in/on that of Mars! There would be no doubt, for this undiscovered Country, that there would, indeed, by that of Nations wishing/and will be planting their Respective Flags/ Yes, a rush for that of the elusive, "Land!"

Also, there would be found a need for "Earth" to continuously be Resupplying that of the populace of Mars - opening the beginning of a trade route, like that of any time period, to that of Mars.

"Once this Starts to take hold - "Governments, not this "Private Enterprise -thing!" would indeed take over Mars operations and its/the Colonists protection.

Tis' but "Human nature/Anywhere!"

$6-Billion is but quite a paltry sum of money!

If, one can send a One-way mission to that of Mars! Then, I would imaging, the opposite would also be found in being true -in time (Thus a game of Ping-Pong begins to take form).

This voyage, being found in taking 7 Months, in its duration. Is fraught with one Maine concern. There is a great deal of floating and passing debris, travelling at a "Very High Velocity!" Unlike, that of Science Fiction, with regards to Star Trek's Shields/This, in being: Enterprise! There would not be found such a thing upon that of a "Modern-day" Shuttle! For which, would be a most unimaginable experience without such form as that as some measure of Protection!
