45 Leopard on the hard

Will someone post a picture or indicate how to sit the boat on the hard? I believe it can be sat on its keel, but where do you place the wood beams to keep off the ground? Thank you and have a nice day.

Re: 45 Leopard on the hard

You place your supports against the hull wherever there are internal bulkheads. If you do not know where the bulkheads are located, just walk along the hull and tap the hull with your knuckles and use your ear. The same applies to where you have the crane or travel-lift slings located when taking the boat out the water - only where the bulkheads are located. On other way is to look in the owners manual. If you do not have an owners manual, join the Leopard Catamaran Group on Yahoo Groups - PDF copies of the manuals are available on the group site.

Re: 45 Leopard on the hard

The keels on leopard 45's are sacrificial and should not be used to support the vessel. Poppits at stern, engine room/stateroom bulkhead, fwd stateroom bulkhead and bow. Make sure stern one clears rudder and eng rm one is angled with hull and spreads load. Recent pics had 1 extra on fwd part of hull. Have seen boats use keel but lift up aft floors and you will see excessive stress from keels pushing up.Click image for larger version
