Re: You Might Be a Liveaboard - if . . .
If your cold weather coat is made by Mustang. I was on a bus this morning someone said "do you work down on the water front"....could figure out what tipped him off....was it the deck boots, survival jacket or watch cap?

I just moved the batteries...the old ones were in the cockpit locker with light wieght and long illogically hooked up leads to below decks with short heavy connections that made sense....it was so easy and so different from the original hook up I had to call in an electrician to make sure I had done it right (he was appalled at the old wiring job that had somehow lasted 40 years). Marine wiring is one of those incredibly simple things that is given a mystique so people are willing to pay exhorbinate amounts of money to have a "pro" do it for them.
The same person that wired the batteries wired the whole boat 40years ago (he was great with wood, but when it came to wiring he fell short) so this winter I'll try and rewire the boat.

We fix previous POs mistakes because it beats sitting in a 55+ community waiting to die. I would rather do this any day!!

Re: You Might Be a Liveaboard - if . . .
If you are meeting with a co-worker, you take off your jacket and she asks, "how did you get so tan? Are you going to a tanning salon?", in mid-November. You look at her and realize she is very pale, look around and see everyone else is very pale too. You answer "I was on deck doing something most of the weekend". And, you think well it was 58 degrees and sunny, no need for any heavy gear.
true story from last week.

If your idea of a great way to spend a couple of hours is to go to the marine supply shop and rummage around looking at all the stuff that you could use.
My wife claims that my going is like going to a porn shop. I spend the whole time drooling

My wife has started to tell I am not allowed to go to a marine supply shop or hardware store alone anymore. I have no idea why the boat needed the new toilet and inverter. I mean anyone would be expected to purchase the tools that make the work all the easier. Good grief Charlie Brown I mean what is the problem?

well of course the boat needed a new inverter. And you just couldn't live without a whole new set of tools. or a new cordless electric drill.
It's an addiction. Just go with it

She gets her shoes and purses and you get Tools. Sounds like a even trade to me...

Re: You Might Be a Liveaboard - if . . .
You guys need better self control, when in a crowded room you don't fondle all the women there do you?
I went to WM the other day and went up/down every isle. I found myself saying I want that, and that, and a few of those, and oh what I wouldn't give to have that! Hundreds of dollars were spent, in my mind. At the checkout I spent $4.97!
My wife says "it does matter where you get your appetite, as long as you come home to eat". Boy does she understand men and marine supply stores!

When tacking: instead of warning “Ready about!”, then “Helm A’lee”; you shout “Timber”.

People keep looking at me like I'm a martian or something because I came into work in shorts and teeshirt with only a light hoodie. Come on, its 10° C and sunny. Beautiful weather in November, and really nice to be working on deck stuff.
