But I got a bit disoriented when I first walked in a home with a vaulted ceiling -after years onboard-It was so high. Talking in the living room is so big i want to scoot a chair closer (cockpit is perfect size for conversation) And at night it was so still I tossed & turned all night. The boat is the best sleep machine!
I was at a friends place last night and the exact words out of mouth were, "A toilet that flushes: I love it!".

Every once and a while I think I would like to lay down on a bed that isn't constantly moving but when I do I miss the movement. I guess that's life in a nutshell.

You might be a livaboard when you walk along a dock and your 2 year old son says:"Daddy, this boat doesn't have his fenders tied right".

Your Adler Barbour compressor has died it's final death and you still only grocery shop for 2 days at a time .

You don't sleep 11pm to 2am because of summer thunderstorms rolling through, and you know your neighbor Rolando never ties his boat properly

You take the time to let your kids enjoy the creatures they discover even though it means standing on the dock in 100 degrees

Re: You Might Be a Liveaboard - if . . .

You debate about whether you want to sleep on a larger bed at night or to have a table when you first wake up in the morning.

While your landlocked friends are worried about unemployment and mortgages, your "if I lose my job" plans involve mai-tais and circumnavigation.

"The Most Interesting Man in the World" is sort-of like a couple people on your dock. Maybe even you.

Joining the yacht club is super exciting - not because of the ritzy networking opportunities but because they have a fullsize kitchen and the drinks are cheap.

Every single day of your life feels a little bit like vacation, even if you have a perfectly normal job.

For former liveaboards, someone needs to invent a couch that rolls and has a built-in leecloth. Would help in a transition back to land.

When everyone else's life can to a stand still because the power went out you respond smugly "I didn't notice".

You might be a liveaboard if you know the world is your backyard.

That's a good one for those of us in California too. Most earthquakes just disrupt transport of food, water and make it hard to get anywhere.
When asked if I have an earthquake kit with food & water... I have 200 gallons of water & a water maker for more; a couple months of food, and a complete medical kit.

When you walk into a house you can't help noticing the all accumulated stuff and/or the lifestyle centered around accumulating more and thinking to yourself.........why?

(Isn't it strange how messed up "land people's" priorities are...oh well to each his own).
