I guess we are the "Pansies"! We stop at Solomons during the summer, but we stay in Florida or south of there during the winter. Calvert Marina might have better rates, but we think either the Holiday Inn Marina with all the amenities of the Hotel or Spring Cove Marina are best.

Solve the issues of heat, water, and waste up front.

Minor details like icy docks and potential creek freezing can come afterwards. (Although it occurs to me I've got a spare ½-hp Kasko de-icer, not immediately close but not a gazillion miles from Solomons.)

What marina? We've usually stayed at Zahniser's when we're in the area... very nice in Summer... but we haven't tried to winter there.

I haven't been there for a number of years now, but have spent a couple of decades there. During that time the best location was Beacon Marina on Dock A. It was a small dock with limited boats and a good view of the museum lighthouse. It was well protected in a small cove. Solomons is a great place to explore and many places to anchor off the Patuxent.

I'd recommend Spring Cove marina... Great community!

Thanks for all the advise. I've been at Calvert Marina since April 1st 2015 and I love the place. Gonna go for it there want to do some Chesapeake Bay winter sailing.
