This is very kind of you Fraser. Thank you. I'm looking for winter 2015 options down your way. It looks like the Port Credit Harbour Marina might be a good place for us next winter. I may give you a call as we get closer.

Mimico Cruising Club allows winter live aboards but you have to join. We did it for 5 winters. Great location and cheap once you are a member.

Thanks winterbuoy. Unfortunately we're only planning to be in Lake Ontario for one winter season (fall 2014 to spring 2015). Given this, it looks like the initiation costs would make it prohibitively expensive.

Mimico looks like a great club though .

I'm in still water basin (Belleville ) now. I'm just looking for an alternative if something happens. He charges $25 ft' plus $50 a month per person live aboard fee and metered hydro. There's a bus route at the end of the road. One bathroom and shower/laundry room combo. We clean the bathroom and shovel the docks. No cable or internet.But the people here are great and the price is unbeatable. He won't be taking any new people next year (with no winter liveaboard experience). Here's to living the dream

Is this a typo? That's $1100 a month for a couple and metered hydro? I think you can get an apartment for that in Toronto.

For non Ontario members hydro is electricity.

That's $25 ft per season not month.I wasn't very clear on that. Slip for my 37' boat is $154 a month plus liveaboard fee of $50 a person is $254 a month.. plus hydro...electricity

I was down in Port Credit today and spoke to a liveaboard who stated that her electrical bill for the winter will probably hit $2000 on top of her $83 per foot docking fee. She and her husband live on a 60 foot boat which equates to $4980 plus the $2000 for electricity. she also stated that this year there are fewer boats in the marina over the winter probably due to the higher costs.

Using the information from the previous post and assuming you had a 35 foot boat and you use $1500 worth of electricity.....your average monthly cost over a 6 month period would be approx. $750 per month<

Actually we lived aboard in Port Credit last winter but moved to Mimico this season and brought 7 other boats with us. Port Credit had 43 liveaboards last year this year only have 23 the hydro cost is 1800 for a 30 amps service and you have to take two 30 amps services for the season meaning 3600 dollars in hydro cost alone. I saved 1200 in the first years move and will save 5000 to 6000 in my second year. I believe the best kept secret is living aboard in the winter.

I noticed that the one image of your boat is the same location where i spoke to the couple with the 60 foot boat is in Port Credit.

Yes haven't undated the pic yet and the couple you are speaking of was most likely Griffen and they are now in Florida. Winterbuoy are you still a member at Mimico
