Oriental and the Pamlico Sound are close and in the other direction the ocean inlet is only a half hour cruise. It occasionally gets into the high 20's but overall a pleasant winter in NC. About the safest, most convenient place you could find at a reasonable price. Porpoise and wild horses, clean water, great restaurants. And you might run inyo Boatman61.

we boat in the UK east coast and have a pearl motor boat, been boating for years, now reaching 55 we are thinking about going liveaboard and dreaming of getting a 45ft trawler and doing the ICW or may well end up on our pearl doing the canal down to the med... more research
