Winter Liveaboard: Boat Systems

Hi all,

I will be livingaboard in NJ, this will be my first aquatic winter.

I understand the three big issues

What I don't understand how to manage is the issue of systems on the boat freezing ie: waterlines. What about through hulls? Diesel engine? shower? etc.

Re: Winter Liveaboard: boat systems

hopefully your boat is insulated? if you keep a little oil filled radiator on then you shouldn't have a problem. don't forget a little heater for your engine room too.

condensation can be a problem if you do a lot of cooking (boiling water). so think about an exhaust for your cooking area. or get a de-humidifier.

We just finished a long thread on living aboard in the winter. Search around, there is lots of info and opinion.
