Which refer is best?

Good day. I need a refer in my boat. I just purchased a C&C30 but have not moved in yet. I will be full time live aboard in DC (Chesapeake) for 1 year then move to Corpus Christi, Tx as a weekend sailor. I plan to sell the boat after a total of 4 years of ownership so I don't want to put a lot a money into it. I decided not to do keel/water cooling due to complexity, haul out/holes, cost, etc. Some, like fridgeboat, are very expensive. The 1st image is my ice box dimensions. The second picture is my comparison charts. Your thoughts are appreciated.

Re: Which refer is best?

Other than the $5 difference, the two WM columns are the same.

The modules are all the same. Might tell you something.

You should go here and noodle around:

Kollmann Marine

Good luck.

I like the Cool Blue.
Super efficient, easy instal and trouble free. Had one on my boat to run fridge and freezer boxes. Put 11,000 hours on the system and still worked strong when I sold the boat.
Averaged about 50 amp hours per day with the optional 2.5" holding plate.

Re: Which refer is best?

They are all basically the same system, using the Danfoss compressor. Flip a coin

Re: Which refer is best?

The newest cool blue systems run the cubigel compressor ever since the Danfoss started manufacture in china. Not the cheapest but ours only uses about 24 ah per day in the pnw in summer .

Re: Which refer is best?

Since you are looking short term, why not just fit an Engel on the boat. Use the existing reefer as storage. Cheap, efficient.

Thanks all, but no portable coolers for me. I have no extra room for one, anywhere. All space is at a premium.

Yes. I have two cold machines, both air cooled and self installed. They've been working continuously for over 6 years including two trips to the Caribbean and home ported in south Florida.

I have had really good luck with three different Sea Frost units. The twelve volt one that compares to the units you are looking at is now 17 years old, having had almost constant use.

Re: Which refer is best?

I very pleased with my Technautics Cool Blue. I'm using 12vdc amps about half way between those two listed above. 'seems like I've had this system for about twenty years. One of the best features is great technical support if you need some help.

Re: Which refer is best?

I HAVE OWNED A COLD MACHINE & A FRIGOBOAT W/KEEL COOLER. I AM CURRENTLY PURCHASING A ISOTHERM. IN MY OPINION THERE IS NOT A DIMES WORTH OF DIFFERENCE IN ANY SYSTEMS YOU LISTED. SINCE YOU WILL PROBABLY BE DOCKED MOST OF THE TIME I WOULD SPEND AN EXTRA HUNDRED ON THE ISOTHERM AND GET THE CONTROL MODULE THAT RUNS DIRECTLY FROM 120V SHORE POWER WHEN CONNECTED & REVERTS TO 12V WHEN UNPLUGGED FROM DOCK

Re: Which refer is best?

Another one to consider is the Engel conversion. It is far more efficient than the danfoss compressors and about the same money
