Which is your favourite Nav programme?

Hi All,
I am a long term user of PC based Maxsea navigation programmes. It revolutionised commercial fishing when our echo sounders were connected to the computer and we began to make our own charts. It is also very easy to use.
The ongoing cost of upgrading to the latest version is making me re-think what we will use to navigate our sailing boat now that we are almost ready to retire and venture across the top of Australia and into the Pacific.. I would like to hear what cruisers around the globe are using for their voyaging and why they like it.
Thanks, Dave

Opencpn. Very powerful, constantly updated with new plugins, ais display must be up there with the best. Great piece of free software.

Re: Which is your favourite Nav programme?

I fished salmon and tuna before electronic nav programs. I use Maxsea and OpenCPN. I run 2 computers for backup. Apparently the newest Maxsea will allow any charts instead of just proprietory. Or is that predatory? The pricing, anyway.
I would like to find a program that has piloting tools that doesn't cost $2500.
