I would say a roach is nearly perfect. Somehow few cruisers will agree. Then you will discover most cruisers will secretly keep them onboard. Hypocrites.

Hmmm, I would say a pair of Ausies (female type) the banter alone would be entertaining nevermind the "drills"

The ones that land onboard but don't stick around for long.

But how can one deny the joy of having such a furball: .

Except of course the fur that collects on the upholstery, in the cockpit drain, in the bilge not to mention the need to go to shore every few hours...

Too late! I already have a twelve year old son. His mouth is always moving. If he isn't talking he's eating.

What about a Penthouse pet? I hear they change every month. Nothing like a bit of variety

I say no pets on board except maybe the fish around the boat. Then if you want to feed them place it on the end of a hook and everybody wins.
How about a bullfrog? You could teach it to hop down to the galley and bring you another beer!!???

Re: What's the Best Pet on a Boat ?

I reckon a hen. They eat just about anything including roaches which almost rate as a chook delicacy, produce fresh eggs and if you get sick of it you can always eat it. The only downside is that they are a tad messy and a bit clumsy, so some spares may be needed to replace those that fall overboard.
