Whats an affordable option for a liveaboard ?

I am currently looking into different liveaboards but find that a large majority of them are either over my budget or under water lol. Does anyone know some affordable liveaboards? My budget is currently around 30k.

I lived and cruised full time aboard a Hughes 35, we took it from Canada to Bahamas 4 years running, then to Trinidad and back to Canada. Sails well, some weather helm but that's fairly common. Draft of 5 feet 10 inches, skeg hung rudder. We repowered with yanmar 3gm30 and could motor at 7 knots in the waterway all day. Sailing, we'd usually count on about 120 miles a day. She's only 10.4 feet wide so by modern standards, narrow. But modern boats cost more.
Hughes 35 should fit right in your budget at about $30 000 when the market is reasonable. Perhaps cheaper now!

With a budget of $30k you can probably look at boats up to $40k asking price. I just did a search on Yachtworld for boats under $40k asking price and got 30,000 hits. Narrow that to only sailboats and you still have 6,500 hits. Narrow it further to boats 30' in length or more and you find 3,200 of them.

Obviously there are a LOT of boats out there that might fit your criteria. If you are not finding any then you must have some specific criteria in mind that you haven't shared with us. Without some idea of what your criteria are, you aren't going to get any useful responses. So, more details about what you're looking for, please.

Have I got a deal for you! We are selling a great liveaboard boat; a Grampian 34. Check it out: www.elysian.ca.

Elysian is a solid, comfortable cruiser with lots of storage space and many upgrades. We were updating her for full-time liveaboard and coastal cruising down to the Caribbean. The only reason we're selling the Grampian is b/c footitis seduced us, and we now own a 37-footer.

I would think that in Asia, you could easily find six liveabords for a year for 30K!

Some Pearson boats go for around this amount and they look like plenty of space inside. Perhaps have a look at them. They cannot be very bad as I know at least one that sailed to our side of the pond and man she looks all right.

There's Tons of great boats in the $20-30k range. Here's one that just got listed recently. that's a serious boat, and plenty of room for living aboard
