Re: What removes velcro sticky residue from gelcoat?

As the answer's already been given, this is for future readers of this post - just to clarify...

Goo Gone but get the GEL formula. Works on just about everything, and if it doesn't, acetone probably will but move quickly with it.

Pretty much any petrochemical or solvent will also be good at dissolving the bond between one's head and shoulders. And be a known or suspected carcinogen, neurotoxin, or similarly problematic.

But in the absence of a forum rule requiring precautions to be listed with every mention of a chemical...I think we all rely on forum members using their own judgment about working with toxins. When in doubt, only shop in Toys'R'Us. (G)

+1. It's the citrus one you want.

In Oz, not sure about other places, use Eucalyptis Oil. It lifts nearly all self adhesives. We use it to clean excess adhesive from the rollers on our laminator in our business.

3M Adhesive Remover, there are two, one citrus and the other a different chemical. Be aware that the adhesive system on PSA backed Velcro could be either rubber or acrylic based. Two different systems. If rubber, citrus works.
