Re: What has happened to Living Aboard forum?

Checking in.. still looking for that 'aythya northbound' thread.

Shame about livingaboard.com, but I've always like cruisersforum, too, so it's all good.

I stay in communication with Captain Rob via FaceBook. I have posted a link to this site there, but may post a link to this thread as well. I hope eveyone makes it over.
Most of them have been very inspirational to me.

Re: What has happened to Living Aboard forum?

Glad to find some of the former livingaboard posters. We've been busy working on our "new to us" trawler but are now trying to catch up.

Re: What has happened to Living Aboard forum?

Ahoy everyone. Capt Rob Lee here... Can I change my username over here? flyer-rob is from my previous life.

Thanks for all of the kind thoughts.

I was on Living Aboard from nearly the beginning of the forums, and was the site Administrator for a long time. I was shocked to see the site go down too.

Living Aboard, it seems for now, is no more. Most know the history. Fred, the original owner of Living Aboard (the magazine, forum, everything) was looking for a new home for Living Aboard. It passed it on to Bob Bitchin and FTW Publishing some time back (maybe about 2 years ago, give or take).

Bob sold the entire L&A empire to a group of guys about 1 year ago (approx). In May or June, they lock the doors and left everyone high and dry.

Fred and I tried to save Living Aboard, but it just isn't going to happen. I cannot say any more about it.

Cheri, Jonathan, and I are doing fine. Nothing has happened to us. I am on Twitter, Facebook, and several other places. And I will try and visit here some.

Thanks again,

Your Pirate friend Rob.

Re: What has happened to Living Aboard forum?

Well, Robin dropped me an email....and let me know where y'all are hangin' out, so I thought I would drop in and say "HI!"....I also post over on the Trawler Forum as "JAT".

Sorry to see what happened to the livingaboard forum.... but even happier to see familiar names on these other sites!

Re: What has happened to Living Aboard forum?

How exactly did the people who paid for lats and atts "take the money and run" ? Usually when I pay for things I end up out of pocket a bit more than the guy I bought the stuff from.

Subscriptions and, in many cases, advertising is paid in advance. It's how the magazine biz works.

Just seems sort of odd that I could buy a magazine for less than the cost of the money I could make off of it in a few months.
