what other sites have the regulars from L.A. also gone to?
Only this & one forum for Mississippi river pool #26 boaters. A person can only read so much on a iPhone ;-)

Re: What has Happened to Living Aboard Forum ?

If anyone is interested, I have opened up a 'mirror' of sorts at livingaboard.me we'll see how it does. I agree this forum is good, but I really liked livingaboard.

Re: What has Happened to Living Aboard Forum ?

I have been trying to get onto the Living Aboard forums for at least a month now. After the first week down I figured it was probably gone. I was worried when Lats & Ats took over Living Aboard. Sad that the concern has proven to be well founded.

This site is good, I've been on it for several years now. But the purpose focused site of L-A was special, as was the magazine which was very much reader driven with none of the useless gloss and crap of the other magazines.

If this is to be a new home it would be nice if we could structure the forums here in a similar fashion, rather than having just one forum for all live aboard topics.

Re: What has Happened to Living Aboard Forum ?

From what I heard from the former employees on the lats board, the new owner of lats & atts Took all the ad money and was doing cost savings by not paying printers, rent, etc.. He was trying to get the advertisers to pony up for three months in advance right before the doors were closed and the locks changed.

Nice guy...

Actually, it is set up this way. I think all that need be done it to move the "Destinations" sub forum here and it would be complete. Of course I never saw the live-aboard site, so I cannot really compare this to that...

Yes...I was thinking about that myself...then my brain really started to hurt!

Re: What has Happened to Living Aboard Forum ?

I doubt any of us will ever find out what REALLY happened, even if Bob and the new owners sat side by side and each told their versions and showed their contracts.

While speculation can be interesting (and I hear the new "Angry Birds, Latts'n'Atts" is forthcoming!) I'd suspect that going into questions of whether someone, well, committed unseemly acts and possibly criminal ones, crosses into areas that CF deems unfit for public discussion.

So it might be time to do the MickeyMouseClub Song, all turn and wave bye-bye, and drop it.

I'm with you on the speculation of what happened, as well as the politics of it all. I don't care about that either.
What I "do" care about is that the title of this thread may attract attention from the straggler members from that forum. I hope they find us here, and become part of this community. There were a lot of good people there.

Ahoyhoy!
I'm one of the refugees from the wreck of the goodship livingaboard.com. Nice to see some familiar names here. I must admit I do find all these forums and sub-forums confusing compared to the simplicity of the last vessel..
All the best!
