Re: What happened to David Old Jersey?

Some people just need a break, this does get rather repetitive. Dave is another one who's gone missing.

I expect they'll both be back eventually.

This. I have several old forums where I used to be a daily poster that I haven't visited in years. One, a cooking forum, just got to be too repetitive and bickery. Another, an ammunition reloading forum, my life situation changed, I don't reload anymore, so I don't go there anymore.

I'll probably be back on both at some point in the future.

Re: What happened to David Old Jersey?

Lots of forums are like that.

I used to post on a Bernina sewing machine forum as a tech advisor, but no sooner did I answer a question about somebody's sewing problem, other persons asked the same question without doing any search.
It happened all the time and I got tired of it. With people begging me not to go, I said bye bye.

Re: What happened to David Old Jersey?

While one is happy to share one's experience and answer newbie's questions, it becomes boring to try and help someone who hasn't at least read through the answers to the last five same questions. It is as if each thinks he must have a separate suck at the tit, instead of sharing the already present meal of knowledge.

People join the forum for different reasons: to obtain knowledge, or sort of get a leg up, for the joys of seeing themselves in print, to help other cruisers, and maybe some just enjoy arguing.

I know some for whom the bickering is such a turn off, they leave in spite of other benefits; and we know one who left because he felt the mods were not doing enough, and one who felt he was being persecuted by a particular mod. This is a group who must be to some extent self-moderating. Personality conflicts happen.

Sorry DOJ's not still around, I like his sense of humor.

Ann

Re: What happened to David Old Jersey?

Well, I guess some possibilities are obvious. But It could be he is no longer boating, or died, or got pissed off and I missed it.. etc. I just thought someone might know.

He's alive and breathing, driving a taxi and currently enamoured by a motorbike..
Pull into St Hellier and hail a Red Cab...

Re: What happened to David Old Jersey?

Yep, DOJ is running a taxi business and has a new steady girlfriend, (Go David!). So he's been too busy to busy to hang out here with the neardowells..

Last I heard he still had his boat, but he's a dirt dweller now.

Coop's left about a year ago.
