What Do You Miss.......

So I come out of the shower thismorning, and telling the wife, we're going to have to go check into a hotel one of these days...
I sure would like to take a long hot bath..

I miss a bath tub............

Randy--You have a perfectly good tub right in the cockpit--under the grating. Just pull the grating up, temporarily store the Jerry Jugs on the side deck, rinse the bottom out, stuff a couple of racket ball balls into the thru-hull drains and Voila!! You're in business. The sink nozzel from the aft head, through the port above the sink, works nicely. (BTDT--- Works best if you have dock-side water or a water-maker. Hot water via heater, tea kettle, or, in our case, a few sun-shower bags on deck for a few hours!)

Cheers...

Re: What Do You Miss.......

Playing hockey (heck, even watching it on TV). Going on our 7th year cruising and it is the only thing I miss at all.

Although after drinking Caribbean beer for a while, I miss a good beer. Luckily, we can catch those every once in a while.

Re: What Do You Miss.......

I miss a long hot shower wasting a huge amount of water.

I miss my friends.

I miss having an ironing board - I hate crinkle cut clothes.

I miss a big freezer, big proper fridge.

Re: What Do You Miss.......

Randyon3,

Dinghies can also work for a soak.

All,

In about 1990 there was a couple who crossed the Pacific and the lady of the vessel, whose hubby was quick to mention his net worth of $35,000,000 was a party to this discussion amongst the women, "what do you miss the most?" While the other gals were answering with statements like, "fresh vegetables", and "peanut butter," what she missed most was her "maids". No kiddin'.

It's all about trade offs. My maid divorced me, but then, if she hadn't I wouldn't be sailing. ;-)

Hmm...

I miss what any real bloke misses afloat: a proper shed, workbench and machine tools, welders and a nearby scrapyard for materials!
