Death In Phuket Of New Zealand Sailor

PHUKET: Police are attempting to identify a foreign man whose body was found on a New Zealand-registered yacht anchored off Phuket’s Nai Harn Beach this morning (Jan 23).

A local hotel worker passing the yacht – the Waitane II, sailing under a New Zealand flag – on a dinghy reported the death to police at about 10:30am, said Maj Thada Sodarat of the Chalong Police.

“He said that he boarded and inspected the yacht after noticing a stench emanating from the vessel, and that’s when he found the body and immediately called the police,” Capt Sodarat said.

Police believe the man had died about 10 days before his body was discovered.

“There were no signs of assault or a struggle,” Capt Sodarat said. “We found a credit card issued by the ANZ Bank, but we could not find any photographic ID with which we could positively identify the man,” he said.

Subsequently it was reported that the identity of the man has been established but will not be released until next-of-kin have been informed

Rustic Charm, there's already a thread about this:

"What a sad way to go !" posted by Emmalina

Maybe you can get the mods to combine them before it gets cumbersome.

Have you seen her lately? I'd rather be in Phuket!

Re: What a sad way to go !

This is not the same person the article is about ,

It is with great sadness that we have to report the death of our cruising mate Tony Moselin who was found on his boat Waitani 11 in Nai Harn Bay, Phuket. Tony was a long time member of FremantleCruising YachtClub and he will be missed by many.

I hope this puts to rest the misinformation coming from some members of this site.

Re: What a sad way to go !

So two dead white middle aged(or older) men died: One having fun, the other fussing around on his boat. Think I prefer the fun way to go. So where is that bartenderess(assuming a lot in Siam).

Evidently Siam is the place to croak for the older male set nowadays.
