Water Jug Repairs ?

Hi! I wasn't sure where to post this. Does anyone have an idea for patching pin holes in plastic water gerry jogs?

Theres not a good solution because the jug keeps flexing but try using hot glue sticks - use a cigarette lighter and melt a glob onto the leak.

Better yet, try melting a stick of the same sort of plastic. That is how PE ski bases are repaired.

I've seen some patched with a screw with a rubber washer. Never asked if it worked good.

A polysulfide, such as Boat-Life will work.....push it into the holes. Any water will only help make it cure. Have used it as emergency patch in hulls for small leaks.

When I got a hole in my inspection plate on my Atomic engine. I through bolted it with large washers, and gasket sealer. You can do the same while putting the stainless bolt pointed inside.

If you have a small mouth on the jug like Scepter. You can use sealer to stick the washer to, and then the nut. Then tape the wrench to the same stick for tightening.

Then again if you are close to a Budget Marine the jugs may be cheap enough to just toss the worn one?.........i2f

I second this suggestion, you can even open up the pinhole a little bit to get more surface area for the caulk to adhere to. The pfofile of a small woodworkers countersink maybe ideal for this, attached to an electric drill the idea would be just to bevel out the hole not enlarge it, put enough caulk to fill the void and level out with a putty knife.
