Waitin Out Fay on this rickety dock!

We don't plan on getting much wind here on the east coast, but I tied to pretty much every busted up rickety piling in this marina. Most of the pilings I can move a foot in any direction by hand, after Jeane and Frances they just stood them back up.... good times.

Anyhow, I think we are going to move to a marina in Stuart next month, I'm not all that impressed with the price vs maintenance standard here at Nettles

Good luck, it looks like it will be a weak tropical storm, but it seems to be headed your way now.

So far not too bad, the dinghy fell off the davits and slammed into the back of the boat, doesn't look like any major damage. Been adjusting lines all night, posts keep slumping over, haven't slept, I've now got over a dozen lines to a dozen different posts

I was a bit worried yesterday morning. My son's 33' Morgan is at the municipal marina in St. Pete and he spent all of Sunday getting the boat ready to weather the storm. Since he's a career Coastie he had to leave early yesterday morning and join the crew of the USCGC Appleby and move her someplace up North to a safe harbor. Looks like this will miss St. Pete and is just a bad storm.

He's only owned the boat about two months, is 25 yrs. old and lives aboard. This is his first major purchase and the one he's dreamed about for years. Sheeeeew....

I just read the 5pm discussion and it seems that Fay actually strengthened while crossing Florida.

We're seeing 55 mph sustained and up to 70 gusts, it has picked up we're right on the back side of it now and it's NOT FUN. I just got back from tieing up a boat that was smashing a piling, we had one man overboard we got him back, it's not safe to be getting on and off the boats at this point.

Looks like she will enter the ocean south of the cape, and return to land just north of the cape. Hopefully with little chance to strengthen.

Are you at Nettles Island? My great aunt used to run the little store there on the island. I have a lot of memories of visiting her there when I was a teen ager. She passed away several years ago. I was told they put a little plaque on the bridge where she fished everyday. I would like to know if it is there. Her name was Mary 'Mammie' Fey.

I will go check it out for you tomorrow!

Winds have continued but started to weaken last night around 2 am, the rain also let up. We are seeing winds about 30-35 knots today. I surveyed the damage this morning, in most cases it was minimal, the Island Packet next to use rubbed on the pilings, but it basically just cheese grated the pilings and did no damage to the boat. The small daysailor behind us however, sunk, it broke free last night, slammed into the dock and eventually started taking on water.

Power and water are back on, which its nice to have a/c
