Re: V-berth Mattresses

I had a local fabric shop put together a custom foam mattress for me, very cheap. They laminated a piece of low density foam on top of a piece of medium density foam. Cut to specifications. This was put inside the existing canvas I had for the vee berth.

It was terrific. We spent some time with me trying out different combinations on the floor. I ended up with a 6 inch mattress.

To that, I added a 3 inch topper of memory foam, bought off the internet for $100. Cut it to size.

WOW...heaven on earth. I have never been in a bed I liked more. Never slept better. And all very inexpensive.

Re: V-berth Mattresses

In San Diego, Upholstery Fabric Outlet, (UFO) in National City, you can have a custom mattress made any way you want it. You can stack different foam densities atop one another to achieve the right feel without bottoming out, you can have them cover it with anything in the store, from mattress ticking to fancy schmancy. They will make the cover removeable or whatever. I will be having them make two new mattresses for me soon. I've tried the memory foam toppers, but it's not for me. I find it too "clinging". I like to be able to slide into the bed instead of roll into it, and in warm, humid weather, it's just too warm.

Does anyone know where I can get 200 count (or higher) cotton queen size sheets at a good price? That's a real luxury.
