I hope that it ends well, like someone questioned this owner and they chose not to ride out this storm like this. And their reasoning for tying the top of their mast to the dock ahead of a storm?

After I posted I noticed that the thread started a couple of days ago, so perhaps all we would now see is an "after" photo.
I would hope it wouldn't be interesting.

I forgot to follow up on this--I apologize. It was too dark/stormy/gross for much of a photo, but the halyard-as-dock-line setup was in place all stormy weekend long. As far as I could tell, there was no damage come Monday. He had the halyard back in its traditional place. I probably won't try this myself. I will keep an eye on that boat the next time the forecast is above 40 knots, and I'll post what I witness.

Ask him his strategy, would be interesting to hear.

My take is that I want stretchy dock likes. Line type used for running rigging is normally low stretch and thus not the typical choice for this aplication.

Maybe he has a Keel Stepped mast and hasn't damaged the Cabin top to badly. Probably just minor leaks now...
