Updating the Shower / Head

Need some advice, the aft shower/head in my CC Allied Mistress need to be redone. It is not functional in its current state. It current has a second entryway into the engine room.

The thought is to make it into a shower only (since I have a head in the vee berth). Will a shower stall work? Any other ideas are most appreciated.

Re: Updating the Shower / Head

I know you don't plan on selling your boat, BUT it will either be sold or sink one day. Do you think someone else will like the crapper in the bow and shower at the other end of the boat.

It is your boat though, do what you think is best for you though.

UD, The reason this was chosen is because of the proximity of the heater. Am not opposed to keep the head aft, but the one forward had the holding tank while the one aft is not used because the lack of a holding tank.

In addition, I would like to have a decent room in the shower to keep the Admiral happy.

Re: Updating the Shower / Head

I would actually prefer an isolated shower stall and separate head for humidity, space, maintenance and sanitary reasons. In addition, a "shower stall alone" becomes the de facto wet locker, so you can use the head a number of times a day without getting wet foulies in the face.

You could also make a serious sump in there under a grate, and could rig a small washtub. Just remember to provide all ventilation to get the humidity out of the boat.

What has never made sense to me is more than one head in a boat. But then we have a Lavac.

When looking for a boat, high on our list was a separate head/shower. Ours has 2 separate head/showers. I would consider doing exactly what you have in mind. As noted above, it also makes a great wet locker.
